Okay, I'm putting this together on a whim to see if anyone is interested. I'm from the midwest, and we play a lot of board games there. I think it's a great way to actually get to know people and have a great time while you're at it. I'm also interested in figuring out exactly what makes a good game so addictive and fun. Anyone interested in meeting up and seeing what we can collectively come up with? Some of my favorite games are Balderdash, Settlers, Scrabble, Poker, the standards of chil …

Also known as baduk, wei ch'i, weiqi, and igo, it is played today by millions of people, including thousands in the United States. I own several really great board games that I rarely get to play. Especially what would be classified as 2 player "War Games". I've been unable to find a group of wargamers in the North Bay, so I figured I would start my own group and see if there was any interest. There are other board game groups in the area for playing "Designer" and "Classic" games, so I'd like this group to focus on games classified as Historic or Fictional war games. Meetups at least once or twice a month, feel free to …

In the beginning I was thinking of boardgames (i.e. Munchkin, Descent, etc.), as they are good for the limited time we will have in a session, and are less "intimidat …

Dominion is a fun, easy to learn, deck building card game. Each player starts with an identical, very small deck of cards. In the center of the table is a selection of other cards the players can "buy" as they can afford them. The game usually takes 30-45 minutes. No gam …
